SEASTAR research team, led by Professor Fran Van Buchem, Postdoctoral Fellow Dr Amir Kalifi, and PhD candidate Wesam Abu Laila, commenced a pivotal 10-day field trip across Jordan in April 2024. With invaluable support from Dr. John Powell and Professor Khalil Ibrahim, the team explored a range of locations across the central part of Jordan from North to South. Their mission: to investigate the upper Cretaceous (Campanian) oyster mounds and the associated Jordanian phosphates. Throughout the expedition, the researchers meticulously analyzed the geological formations, logged various sections, and collected crucial samples to advance their studies. This field trip marks a significant step in understanding the region's ancient geological history.
