Professor Frans van Buchem, along with PhD candidates Wesam Abu Laila and Nicolas Boehm, attended the 38th International Association of Sedimentologists (IAS) conference in Huelva, Spain. The team presented their latest research on Cretaceous oyster mounds from Jordan and Upper Jurassic evaporite deposits from Saudi Arabia

We are proud to share that Nicolas Boehm received a poster award for his contribution on the Saudi Arabian evaporite deposits, highlighting the significance of this regional seal in the Arabian Peninsula.

The International Association of Sedimentologists (IAS) Conference is a premier global forum for sedimentary geoscience, where researchers from across the world gather to share the latest discoveries shaping our understanding of Earth's dynamic systems. The 2025 edition highlighted research spanning modern sedimentary processes to ancient depositional environments, with special emphasis on energy, climate, and sustainable subsurface management.
